Local Brewery Offers Drive Thru and Home Delivery Amidst Coronavirus

CINCINNATI, OH— Small businesses and those who work for them may be some of the most devastated due to the coronavirus and impending mass gathering order in the State of Ohio and across the country. Fibonacci
Brewing Company is one of the smallest in the State of Ohio and relies on events and taproom business as part of their core business model. As warnings and announcements have been released across the state and the country Fibonacci has been watching closely and working to create ideas for alternatives.

When Fibonacci opened in 2015, there was already an existing drive thu from the previous floral shop. At the time they thought it would be a unique offering to customers, but found that people really preferred to come in for a beer when they wanted to take something to go. However, with the impending outcomes of
coronavirus, they have decided to officially open the drive thru window for pick-up. According to co-owner and President Betty Bollas, “We understand the severity of the issue and that not everyone is able to be in a public setting right now due to age or medical condition. Some of our favorite customers fall into this category and we want to offer another way to serve them and include them. We have been using specific precautions in our taproom and this is just another way for us to serve our customers.”

Another offering that Fibonacci will launch within the next few days will be online ordering which will allow for pick up or at home delivery. They talked with the State of Ohio Division of Liquor Control and asked if they could deliver direct to consumers homes and the answer was yes. Fibonacci will launch delivery service within the next few days and will start with a five mile radius of specific zip codes. They will offer bottles, growlers, and howlers. According to Bollas, “As a really small business we aren’t always the first to respond, but with my human resources and risk management background I am trained to get ahead of major issues. As a small business that relies on events and taproom sales this is our response to what’s going on and may be a new way of operating to ensure our survival.”

The drive thru at Fibonacci is open immediately and home delivery begins in a few days. More details will continue to be announced through the website www.fibbrew.com and social media.

Pretentious Barrel House to Release a Passion Fruit Sour Blonde Ale, Indolence

COLUMBUS – Pretentious Barrel House; the original, all sour brewery of Columbus, Ohio; is pleased to announce the return of Indolence, a taproom favorite initially released in early 2018. This low acidity sour blonde exudes an aroma of passion fruit and is the definition of "easy drinking." The balance of lactose, vanilla, and passion fruit imparts a flavor that is truly greater than the sum of its parts. Guests can enjoy Indolence starting Friday, February 28th, when the taproom--located at 745 Taylor Ave, Columbus, OH 43219--opens at 4 pm.

"This is easily our best selling beer, the flavor combination of oak, passion fruit, and vanilla create such a unique experience," says Joshua Martinez, brewmaster. "The beer is both sweet and sour, fresh and savory. The kind of beer that cannot accurately be described; it must be experienced."

Established in October of 2017, Pretentious Barrel House is the first brewery in Columbus to specialize exclusively in barrel-aged sour ales. Our extensive knowledge of the symbiotic relationship between beer and wood results in consistent, quality sours. By manufacturing a wide range of beer along the sour spectrum, our consumers can ease their way into this unique style. Our goal is to produce award-winning sours that change people’s perspectives regarding craft beer.

MadTree Brewing Joins 1% for the Planet to Amplify Their Community Impact

CINCINNATI (February 10, 2020) – MadTree Brewing announced today that they have become a member of the international non-profit organization, 1% for the Planet. 1% for the Planet was created by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard whose members commit to contribute at least one percent of their annual sales to environmental causes.  Their mission is to build, support, and activate an alliance of businesses financially committed to creating a healthy planet.

Joining 1% for the Planet is a continuation of the community giving and sustainability values that are at the roots of MadTree and the efforts they have taken since the brewery was founded in 2013.  They are one of only a handful of breweries in the organization.

MadTree believes in supporting the local communities across their footprint – which crosses OH, KY and TN.  Within Cincinnati, MadTree identified an opportunity to bring in more local non-profits in the 1% for the Planet network and has recently nominated several local organizations to join – including Wasson Way, Cincinnati Parks Foundation, and Cincinnati Nature Center.  The Arbor Day Foundation, of whom MadTree is an ongoing supporter, is already a member.

“We are thrilled to be working with MadTree Brewing as part of the 1% for the Planet movement. In addition to all the other benefits resulting from the Wasson Way project, we want to plant hundreds of trees to filter our water, clean our air, provide food to animals and create wonderful shade for Trail users. We will also be working to install rain gardens and bioswales along the Trail to create habitats for butterflies, insects, birds, bees and other pollinators. Without the support of MadTree and our incredible volunteers and donors, none of this would happen” said Jay Andress, co-founder Wasson Way.

When selecting organizations, it was important to MadTree to identify those projects that were seeking a combination of financial giving and volunteer opportunities.  “We are a group that likes to get outside and spend time in the outdoors.  We get our hands dirty and take pride in the work we do to help beautify our area” said Emily Chapel, Marketing Director for MadTree.  MadTree’s employees regularly conduct trash pickups in the brewery’s Oakley neighborhood, and in 2019 MadTree closed their taproom for a day so employees could plant nearly 60 trees in Mt Storm Park, a project supported by the Arbor Day Foundation and Cincinnati Parks.  MadTree will continue identifying, connecting with, and building relationships with environmental non-profits to make local impact across their distribution footprint.

“With MadTree, we have a shared vision to connect our community with the beauty and wonders of the natural world. It is our great honor to partner with them to grow and connect people to our community’s urban forest through the Cincinnati Park Board’s ReLeaf Program.  The fall program offers a wide variety of established trees to Cincinnati property owners with the intention to increase the City’s canopy outside of public spaces. The benefits of this program go well beyond the environmental gains to our community. These trees will not only become part of landscapes, but part of families,” says Crystal Courtney, Cincinnati Park Board Urban Forestry Supervisor.

Brady Duncan, Co-founder of MadTree, says “When we started MadTree 7 years ago, we were driven to craft great beer - but more importantly - to build something bigger than ourselves and the high-quality beer we produce. We care deeply about creating meaningful connections with our communities. We are inspired by Patagonia and how they are so much bigger than a clothing company – we will use our business as a platform to connect people to nature and each other.  These are the areas where you’ll see us focusing– in addition to the great beer that has helped us to build a tremendous community.”

To continue their efforts in this space and take them to the next level, MadTree is kicking-off the search for a new role on their team – a Director of Strategic Impact. This person will oversee the company’s Strategic Impact Program to amplify their reach and impact in the communities they serve.  Additional information about this role and the opportunity to apply may be found at www.madtreebrewing.com/jobs.

About MadTree Brewing Company

MadTree puts purpose in every pour. Founded in 2013, MadTree has always been driven to craft great beer - but more importantly - to build something bigger than themselves and the high-quality beer they produce. Since the beginning, MadTree has cared deeply about creating meaningful connections with their communities. They embrace their namesake and work to celebrate and protect nature, while reducing their impact on the environment. They are proud members of 1% for the Planet, with a commitment to donate 1% of sales to non-profits focused on environmental sustainability. The craftspeople at MadTree wake up every day to connect people to nature and each other. MadTree. Inspiring Madness, Rooted in Purpose.

About 1% for the Planet

1% for the Planet started when two business owners met and bonded over their shared love for the outdoors. In 2002, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, created 1% for the Planet and started a global movement to help fund diverse environmental organizations. 1% for the Planet brings dollars and doers together to accelerate smart environmental giving to non-profits so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems. 1% for the Planet focuses on climate change, land, water, food, air and pollution.  Learn more at onepercentfortheplanet.org.

Fifty West Brewing Co to Launch Electrolyte Beer at Kroger in Conjunction with 2020 Training Groups

Fifty West Brewing Co to Launch Electrolyte Beer at Kroger in Conjunction
with 2020 Training Groups

(Cincinnati, OH) After a successful inaugural season of Fifty West Training Groups in 2019, the brewery plans to continue its marathon training program in the new year, complete with a beer designed for active people. Fifty West Training Groups will, again, partner with JackRabbit to power its 17-week running program that provides group coaching for those looking to run the Flying Pig half or full marathon in 2020.

“Every running group in Greater Cincinnati starts and ends at a shoe store. We saw an opportunity to shift this paradigm with Fifty West. What better place to finish a run than their active lifestyle-focused campus? This simple change brings more social value to the group and creates a big, dynamic support system. Our partnership with Fifty West has the added benefit of offering quite a few more perks than your average running group,” said Matt Frondorf, GM of JackRabbit O'Bryonville.

“Running transformed my life. Training got me into shape, instilled discipline, and helped create a wonderful sense of accomplishment and community. Through this platform I’ve witnessed the same personal journey and evolution among the people that train with us,” said Fifty West Founder and President, Bobby Slattery. “We are proud to bring Fifty West Training Groups back in 2020. I can’t wait to meet the next group of people looking to make a positive change in their lives while having fun and making new friends.”

With its differentiating aim to be a more social marathon training program, the brewery accepts runners of all skill levels and is quick to provide beers after a run. Coinciding with the first week of training, Fifty West will introduce a new beer crafted specifically for people pursuing a balanced and active lifestyle. Quencher, a 100 calorie, gluten-reduced beer featuring low alcohol, no added sugars, and the addition of electrolytes, will be available at Greater Cincinnati Kroger locations, beginning the second week of January.

“The trend of “healthier-for-you” beer is on the horizon with a slew of new products coming to market. I believe we are uniquely positioned to do well in the segment. Our established Cincinnati campus featuring volleyball leagues, canoe and kayak rentals, a cycling shop, and access to the Little Miami Scenic Trail allows us to activate and provide real experiences around Quencher,” said Max Fram Fifty West’s Vice President of Strategy and Operations.

A preview night and free group fun run for anyone interested in Fifty West Training Groups will be held at Jackrabbit O’Bryonville on January 2nd at 6:30pm. The store will additionally be offering 20% off participant’s total bill that evening (some exclusions apply). More information and registration for the group is now open on the brewery’s website. https://fiftywestbrew.com/training-groups/
