Lagunitas Dark Swan Sour Ale Beer Review

So a while back, a while while back, I never got around to uploading my look at the Lagunitas Dark Swan Sour Ale when I took time to taste this little 8.5% ABV treat. It is part of their One Hitter Series and is a Sour Ale fermented with red wine grapes, which for me definitely sounded interesting at the time. A quick rundown on this ale is that for me it was an okay attempt at a sour ale using the grapes as they did come across well in the taste and aroma. The beer had a good and not overwhelming amount of tartness, and I did pick up some subtle and fruity qualities of the beer. There was a light bit of astringency, and a nice bot of mouthcoating as the beer settled well into the cheek area. Overall, it was less than I was expecting with this one but as a sour ale, it met its goal. Check out the video to hear and see more on this one.

Rivertown Brewery Silverback Snack Beer Review

Silverback Snack from Rivertown Brewery & Barrel House is dessert in a glass, a pint glass. This chocolate banana stout brings together white chocolate sauce and banana puree as additions to the mix of malts, hops, yeast, and water to bring about a pleasant what I would call a dessert beer. You are going to want many of these in succession mist likely because of the sweetness but one or two in the mix can work. Roasty, dark with notes of chocolate is to be expected, but that kick of the sauce and puree do take it over the top nicely. There was a nice smoothness with this beer, and it made one decent nightcap. It proved to be a nice find on a random beer run, and I would definitely drink it again. Nowhere In Particular Batch 19 Beer Review - A One And Done

I decided to grab a Batch 019: Doctor IPA from Nowhere In Particular Promiscuous Ale Project located in Dayton, Ohio for this next review. This one here is a Double Rice IPA, yes, I said rice, but this is not Budweiser or another macro. At 8.2% ABV and 41 IBU, this brew decided to add this grain and come up with what they call a nice juicy IPA. Highlighted by Citra, Columbus and Mosaic hops, the tones of an IPA did come through nicely. Carbonation was a little turned up I thought, but it did smooth out nicely and provide a good mouthfeel. The body was not heavy and carried a nice crisp feel to it, and there was a decent earthy, piney feel along with the citrusy hops. In the end, I was left with a nice crisp finish making the beer somewhat enjoyable and for me well worth me trying.

Rhinegeist Stryker Beer Review - A Limited Release

Stryker from Rhinegeist here in Cincinnati is not only one of my favorite beers from them but one of my favorites from the area in general as a nice DIPA. This beer for me has a good amount of things going on with it and maybe it is because it is a limited release that I like it as much since it is not always available. Made as a tribute to one of the brewers, this Double India Pale Ale brings a lot to the table that I enjoy which also at 9.3% ABV makes it a little dangerous because I feel as if you really do not pick up the booziness of it.

Currently available at the time of this post, which is July, I believe the beer may become available in May and once it is gone then that is it until the following year. Sitting at 100 IBU, there will be some bitterness of course, but the malts provide a nice backside balance to the hops. There is a good sweetness with the brew, and I was able to pick up notes reminiscent somewhat of passion fruit, along with your typical notes of grapefruit, orange, and even a slight piney tone. The mouthfeel delivers nicely and there is a good mouthcoating left from the beer leaving behind much of the same on the palate from what you get on the nose. There is a nice sweetness from the malt backbone and you will pick up its dankness and resinous qualities. Dry on the texture, this one just encourages you to drink more. It is a fine beer from them in my opinion and worth checking out for any IPA or DIPA fan. Check out my video to hear and see more on this one.
