Craft Beer Review: Simpler Times Lager

Minhas Brewery Description:
There are times when an
ice-cold beer fits the bill. This is an easy-drinking brew that’s
reliably tasty without being fussy.  It’s a straightforward beer with
good hop flavor without it being over the top. This speaks of a simpler
time when you could order a beer, and they wouldn’t bring you a full
menu. They’d just bring a good beer at a good price. Life can be
complicated, but your beer does not have to be. Enjoy the taste of
Simpler Times.

Craft Beer Review: Horny Blonde For You

From Horny Goat Brewing: This beer is brewed to be clean and crisp with
the hops slightly edging out the malt on the taste. A generous addition
of German hops will leave the finish quite dry which is accentuated by
the softness on the palate given by the white wheat.  Horny Blonde took
Silver in the Premium Lager category at the 2012 Great International
Beer Festival.

Craft Beer Review: Oberon Ale From Bell's Brewing

Bell's Oberon is a wheat ale fermented with
Bell's signature house ale yeast, mixing a spicy hop character with
mildly fruity aromas. The addition of wheat malt lends a smooth
mouthfeel, making it a classic summer beer.

Craft Beer Review: Crystal Pale Ale

From Samuel Adams: This crisp pale ale is named after Crystal hops grown
in Oregon, which give the beer its distinctive American hop character.
That classic aroma and citrusy, floral flavor that the Crystal hops
provide is accented by the subtle earthiness of UK hops and balanced by a
deep yet subtle malt sweetness with notes of toffee.

Crafty Beer Review: Goose Ten Hills Pale Ale

Ten Hills traces its story to Elk Mountain Farms in Idaho, famous for
growing hops of exceptional quality and character. With hops from the
"first ten hills" grown for Goose Island at Elk Mountain, we crafted a

Beer Review: Newcastle Brown Ale Remembered

A look at Newcastle Brown Ale, which is a brand of beer produced by
Heineken International. The beer was introduced in 1927 in Newcastle
upon Tyne, England, by Newcastle Breweries, which became Scottish &
Newcastle in 1960. In 2005, brewing was moved out of Newcastle for the
first time to the other side of the River Tyne, to Dunston in Gateshead.
In 2009, it was announced that production would move to Tadcaster North
Yorkshire.

Beer Review: Soft Parade Packs Flavor!

Company Description: Soft Parade is a gourmet specialty pour that is brewed with toasted rye
flakes and two-row malted barley. Loaded with pureed strawberries,
blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, we refer to this fermented
potion as a fruit infused rye ale. The result is a refreshing fruit
delicacy that is easy to drink, visually appealing, and finishes dry.
Soft Parade was originally developed because Joe Short wanted to create a
beer that incorporated a medley of berries, had a great color, and
appealed to wine drinkers.

A Guide to Pairing Your Comics And Beer

Have you ever thought about pairing your beer to comic book heroes? Well if so, then today is  your lucky day!

Cincinnati Brewing History (1806-2006)

Cincinnati and beer, what a history for sure. But, how much do you know?  Well, here is one way to find out more and take a look back at the history that took place here in the Queen City. Just click on the link below and begin your exploration back in time!

Cincinnati was one of the leading beer-producing cities before Prohibition and has a rich brewing heritage dating back over 200 years. A large influx of mid-18th century German immigrants brought lager styles to add to the porters and ales offered by the earlier British and French brewers. The Cincinnati Brewing History Map documents those brewers from 1806-2006 with names and locations illustrated on a vintage Cincinnati street map. This site helps bring that map alive by adding more detail to individual brewers, along with frequent posts of some of their contributions (and escapades) to Cincinnati history. Finally, we also a Google map of the current Cincinnati craft breweries which continue that great brewing tradition!

Beer Review: Huma Lupa Licious Brings Da Hops!

Huma Lupa Licious’ name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It
is Short’s best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with
five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between
the beer’s abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation,
it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty
malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance. Huma is the
product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience.
Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and
went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we
know and love today.

Beer Review: Beer Camp 2016 Edition

Sierra Nevada Description:

Fruit-forward hops take this IPA to the tropics. Beer Camp is the ultimate brewing experience. We invite beer fans into
our brewery nearly every week to design their own beer and then we bring
it to life. Each spring, we’ll feature one of our favorite
collaborations from the previous year. This year’s selection features
intensely aromatic hop varietals rich with the flavors of the tropics.
We use Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado hops to create bright fruit-forward
flavors of mango, papaya and bitter orange.
