Beer Review: Guinness Black Lager

This is a look at the Guinness Black Lager which is a Euro
Dark Lager that comes in at a 4.5% ABV and is cold brewed with roasted barley. Introduced
in 2010, this newer product is aimed at young men who prefer chilled, bottled lagers to pints of beer
and to those that may be interested in a dark beer but not their famous stout.

Beer Review: Schlafly American IPA (AIPA)

Schlafly is based out of St. Louis, Missouri, and this is a
look at their American IPA or simply abbreviated, AIPA. This IPA comes in
nicely at a 7.2% ABV and also 65 IBU, and it was designed to release some big
flavors and aroma, so let’s see how it does. Key hops used include: Amarillo,
Centennial and Simcoe.

Beer Review: Sierra Nevada 11.5° Plato

This
is my look at the 11.5° Plato from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, which is a
Session IPA offering that comes in at an ABV of 4.5%. It is described as having
a burst of hop flavor and aroma from its use of intense American hops that
feature notes of grapefruit, citrus and tropical fruit.

Alpha King from Three Floyds Brewing is an American Pale Ale that comes in at 6.66% ABV along with 66 IBU. It is considered to be hop lover’s beer and a citrusy experience from the use of Centennial, Cascade and Warrior Hops. It is one of Three Floyds flagship beers and time to see why.

Beer Review: Three Floyds Gumballhead

Three Floyds Brewing Company is based out of Munster,
Indiana and this is a look at their Pale Wheat Ale…Gumballhead. This American Pale
Wheat comes in at an ABV of 5.6% and 35 IBU, and brings together the traditional
Wheat Ale with the crisp citrus commonly found on American Pale Ales, which may
be due to its overabundance of Amarillo hops.

Beer Review: Evil Twin The Cowboy

This is my look at The Cowboy from Evil Twin Brewing. This beer is a Smoked Pilsner that comes in at an ABV of 5.5% and is classified as an all year offering from the brewery. The goal of this beer seems to be the creation of a beer that cowboys would want to drink.

Beer Review: Prairie Birra Farmhouse Ale

The Birra Farmhouse Ale is a Saison offering from Prairie Artisan Ales based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It comes in at an ABV of 4.5% and an IBU of 18. Golden in appearance, this beer is for those looking for a nice crisp and refreshing beer with a little bit of a spice kick.

Beer Review: Redhook Out Of Your Gourd

Although Redhook
Brewery is technically not a craft brewer, here is a look at their Out Of Your
Gourd, a 5.8% ABV Pumpkin Porter that pours a chestnut brown and was fermented
with pureed pumpkin and maple syrup. Let’s see how this beer fares and what it
has to offer.

Commercial

pureed pumpkin. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger are added to the whirlpool and
maple syrup is added during fermentation. Lightly hopped with Northern Brewer

things fall – eating turkey, watching football or drinking with your buddies

Beer Review: Sierra Nevada Hoppy Lager

The Sierra Nevada Hoppy Lager is one of the specialty beers
from Sierra Nevada and was reintroduced earlier this year in of the variety
packs after being a featured beer in the Beer Camp Across America Series in
2015. This hybrid India Pale Lager or IPL for short comes in with an ABV of 7%
and an IBU level of 55.

Beer Review: Sierra Nevada Family Values

Here is one more beer from the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp
Across America Series. Family Values is an 8.5% ABV Imperial Brown Ale that
also comes in with an IBU of 35. This is not one to be taken lightly as the
smooth taste impacted by honey can have you forgetting the strength of it.
Commercial Description:
Family Values showcases the cooperation and kinship of
Midwestern brewers. It features largely Midwestern-grown ingredients: Minnesota
wild rice, Indiana honey, Missouri oats, Michigan hops, and cocoa nibs from
Illinois as well as Sierra Nevada's estate-grown malt. This is our centrally
located collaboration celebrating the best of the Midwest.
