Ohio On Tap Week: Sept. 8-17, 2023

Craft Breweries Pour on the Fun for Inaugural Ohio On Tap Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Craft beer fans across the state are gearing up for the inaugural Ohio On Tap Week presented by Giant Eagle, happening Sept. 8-17, 2023. Over that 10 day span, users of the popular Ohio On Tap passport app have the opportunity to earn bonus stamps by attending events hosted at participating brewery taprooms and Giant Eagle Market District stores.

The Ohio On Tap app is the largest state-level brewery passport app in the nation with 330 participating taproom locations and more than 42,000 users. App users collect virtual passport stamps at brewery and event locations over a three-year period to earn merchandise rewards provided by the Ohio Craft Brewers Association. During Ohio On Tap Week, dozens of bonus passport stamps will be available during events specified on the app.

“Brewery tourism is booming in Ohio, thanks in part to the Ohio On Tap app,” said Mary MacDonald, executive director of the Ohio Craft Brewers Association. “Ohio On Tap Week gives our experienced app users an opportunity to revisit some of their favorite breweries, as well as offering newer users a quick boost toward their next reward level.”

Ohio On Tap Week officially kicks off with a party at the
Giant Eagle Market District store in the Kingsdale Shopping Center in Upper Arlington on Friday, Sept. 8 from 5-7 p.m. The first 300 attendees will receive a limited-edition commemorative Ohio On Tap Week glass and discounted draft beers from a curated tap list of Ohio breweries.

The Ohio Craft Brewers Association will launch the new Mystery Beer Date event series during Ohio On Tap Week. Like speed dating but with Ohio craft beer, 15 breweries will attempt to “woo” guests with special beers and the stories behind them. At the end of each tasting, guests will vote on their favorite beer and the best “date” among the breweries present. Mystery Beer Date tastings will be held at Giant Eagle Market District in Strongsville on Wednesday, Sept. 13, MadTree Brewing in Cincinnati on Thursday, Sept. 14, Moeller Brew Barn in Dayton on Friday, Sept. 15 and Giant Eagle Market District Grandview Yard in Columbus on Saturday, Sept. 16. Tickets available at https://ohiocraftbeer.org/mysterybeerdate

September is historically a prolific month for brewery events and beer releases. The late summer hops harvest results in dozens of fresh hop beers – brewed with unprocessed, whole cone hops – bursting with unique flavors and aromas unavailable at other times of year. Ohio On Tap users can earn bonus passport stamps at fresh hop beer release events at Roundhouse Depot Brewing in Marysville on Sept. 8, Combustion Brewery taprooms in Pickerington and Clintonville on Sept. 12 and Saucy Brew Works in Cleveland on Sept. 16.

Ohio brewers are also tapping their Oktoberfest lagers this month to coincide with the traditional start of Germany’s iconic beer festival. Bonus Ohio On Tap stamps are available at Oktoberfest celebrations at
Wandering Monsters Brewing on Sept. 8, Cartridge Brewing in Maineville on Sept. 9, HighGrain Brewing in Cincinnati on Sept. 9, Ill Mannered Brewing in Powell on Sept. 16, The Phoenix Brewing Company in Mansfield on Sept. 16 and Two Bandits Brewing in Hicksville on Sept. 16.

Ohio On Tap Week is presented by Giant Eagle, a proud retailer of Ohio craft beer at supermarkets across northeast and central Ohio. Ohio On Tap Week is also sponsored by The Casual Pint of Toledo.

In addition to the events above, a full list of Ohio On Tap Week events and venues can be found in the Events section of the Ohio On Tap app. To download, visit https://ohiocraftbeer.org/app
