Ardagh Metal Packaging launches new can size to support beverage brands

New 19.2 oz.(568ml) aluminum beverage can offering enables further retail differentiation, while delivering leading sustainability metrics

CHICAGO, Jan. 23, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Ardagh Metal Packaging North America (AMP - NA) is extending its already substantial product line for beverage brand customers by launching a new 19.2 oz.(568ml) beverage can.

The new can size, expected to serve strong growth in the single serve channel, represents the first time a 19.2 oz. (568ml) can has been manufactured in the United States by AMP. The product provides an offering between the more traditional sizes of 16 oz. and 24 oz., and is supporting brands looking to expand in such categories as beer, ciders, hard seltzers and water, to name a few. The new product also benefits from inherent beverage can sustainability characteristics such as leading recycle rates and recycled content rates. Beverage cans also deliver ideal filling, distribution and retail display economics, further strengthening customer business objectives.

AMP - NA CEO Claude Marbach says the extension of the company's product line is in response to the continued focus on sustainability by consumers and the growth opportunities for cans across numerous beverage categories. "This is also a clear indication of AMP's commitment to customers," he said. "We're enabling brands to further differentiate their product on retail shelves by choosing from a wide array of sizes, graphics and tab and end options. This new 19.2 oz. (568ml) size is indicative of this commitment, where AMP serves as a one-stop partner in enabling our customers to achieve their brand and bottom line targets."

The new 19.2 oz. (568ml) beverage can will be produced at AMP's new Huron, OH, manufacturing facility and will be available by the end of the first quarter.

Sip Sip Hooray! MadTree Turns 10 and Is Ready To Celebrate

CINCINNATI (January 23, 2023) – Cheers to ten years. MadTree, Ohio’s first craft brewery to can their beer is officially a decade old and has become so much more than craft beer. Over its history, MadTree has moved into a new facility in Oakley, branched out and launched a vodka soda line, Sway by MadTree, and opened Alcove kitchen + bar in historic Over-The-Rhine. They have also joined 1% for the Planet, giving back 1% of all sales to local environmentally sustainable nonprofits, achieved LEED Gold certification at their Alcove location, and applied for B-corp certification.

“Fifty percent of small businesses fail within five years,” says Co-owner Kenny McNutt, “To be at a point where we’re double that mark along with all the new innovation and different areas of business we’ve tapped into is a testament to our community’s support and our employees’ commitment to the brand.”

It started as friends brewing together in a garage who took the leap to start a business doing something they actually enjoy. Now, it’s a company that is driven to produce the best products around while giving back to the community and connecting people to nature and each other.

“We’re so proud of how far we’ve come as both a company and as people,” says Co-owner Brady Duncan. “It’s been a whirlwind of ups and downs, but we’ve never been more focused and aligned than where we are now. The next ten years and beyond are going to be really exciting as we continue to build a brand that we want our kids and future generations to be proud of.”

MadTree is also bringing back their anniversary party, Bonanza, for the first time since 2020 on February 25th, 2023. Featuring a brunch bingo, cake baking contest with Cincinnati Magazine, rare beers from guest breweries, a DANCEFIX performance, live music, karaoke, food trucks, and more, this is going to be their best birthday bash yet.

“This is one of our favorite traditions here at MadTree,” says McNutt, “And it’s so nice to say that it’s finally back. Bonanza epitomizes everything we love to celebrate including our community, friends, local partners & businesses as well as other breweries.”

Like every purchase you make, 1% of all sales during Bonanza will be donated back to local nonprofits like Cincinnati Parks Foundation, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, Adventure Crew, and Groundwork ORV. For a full list of what will be happening during the day, please visit: www.madtree.com/bonanza.

Cheapskates or Brilliant Marketers? Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Breaks into the Big Game with One of the Year's Smallest Ad Buys

Off-centered brewery to air first-ever Big Game commercial in a super small way, spending 1,000 times less than some advertisers

MILTON, Del., Jan. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Bringing its off-centered ethos to the football field, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery sprints into next month's Big Game with one of the year's smallest ad buys.

With some advertisers reportedly spending up to $7 million for a 30-second commercial during the Big Game this year, Dogfish Head is spending 1,000 times less.

Airing exclusively in the Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) area, a subset of the Salisbury Designated Market Area (DMA), which is ranked 137 out of 210 – and the region Dogfish Head calls home – the brewery's 30-second spot will cost just $7,000 to air.

Dogfish Head's spot – its first ever Big Game commercial – pokes a little fun at Big Game marketing hoopla, and instead of highlighting professional football, it highlights Electric Football. Featuring the brewery's Founder & Brewer, Sam Calagione, the commercial pays homage to his use of Tudor Games' iconic Electric Football game to invent the brewing method of continual hopping, from which the brewery's beloved beers, 60 Minute IPA, 90 Minute Imperial IPA and 120 Minute IPA, were born.

By rigging an Electric Football game over a brew kettle, Calagione was able to cascade hops into his beers at a consistent rate to create a lineup of IPAs that are outrageously hoppy, without being crushingly bitter. To honor this invention's impact on the craft brewing community, Dogfish Head's original continual hopping mechanism now sits in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Museum.

"Throughout our 27+ years in business, our only game plan has been venturing off the beaten path, and this commercial, as well as our partnership with Tudor are perfect examples of that overarching passion for off-centered exploration," said Calagione. "From one of the smallest craft breweries in America to one of the smallest Big Game commercial spends, we felt it only fitting to air our spot featuring a tiny football game exclusively in our slight but mighty backyard, coastal Delaware. At Dogfish, we take what we do seriously … ourselves? Not so much."

Continuing its longtime relationship with Tudor Games, Dogfish Head recently announced its exclusive beer sponsorship of the "not-so" big game, the Electric Football World Championships. Slated for Saturday, Feb. 4, and Sunday, Feb. 5, the only weekend of the professional football season without any live games, the Electric Football World Championships is expected to draw elite coaches from across the country to battle for one coveted title. Taking place at Dogfish Head's Tasting Room & Kitchen in Milton, Del., the brewery will livestream the event's most anticipated moments on its YouTube channel for those unable to attend.

To complement the brewery's big game spot and sponsorship of the Electric Football World Championships, Dogfish Head will launch a custom beer-themed edition of Tudor Games' Electric Football game. Later this month, boards will be available at www.dogfish.com/shop for $110 each. Supplies are limited.
