Beer Review: Hop Trial Schlafly Perle (One Time Release)

Back with another one of the Hop Trial beers from Schlafly – The Saint Louis Brewery, this is Perle. A single malt single hopped Golden Ale featuring this German hop of origin which is now also grown here in America. Known to be somewhat of a spicy hop, this was picked up for me in the delivery of the beer. However a second quality that is also to be displayed is that of a minty one which wasn’t much to speak of at the time, and was kind of faint in the background. Color was good though and some nice lacing did take place as the beer worked down the glass. As for flavor, there was a nice quality to the beer which had a refreshing and floral character. Moving to my Untappd scale…Chalk this one up as a 3.75 for me, and if on Untappd then feel free to connect so I can see what you’re drinking too. Same as here, can friend request to Rodjbeerventures…Cheers!

Beer Ripples - Foam Pictures On Beer? What's Next?

Beer Ripples is a device that allows for the printing of words in the foam of a beer. What? You heard me right, it allows the printing of words in the foam of beer. See what I mean here by checking out my recap for today's quickie beer news.

Beer Review: Schlafly Hop Trial Ella (One Time Release)

Hop Trial: Ella from Schlafly Beer is part of their series dedicated to the tasting of individual hops which started a couple of years ago. It is a Golden Ale single malted and single hopped, the goal is to allow the drinkers to taste and enjoy the hop identified which in this case is the Australian Ella. For me, I found this beer to actually perform pretty decently, the appearance was solid and it held well on the flavor and aroma. The beer proved to be a nice palatable experience as the floral qualities of the hop came through nicely, more so than the also noted fruity notes that one should experience. Unfortunately, the beers are not for individual sale as they are part of a specialty series only introduced in 12 packs. But if you happen to see it and there will be new ones here for 2018, then it may be well worth picking up to experience which ever hop is highlighted. My score for this one an 82 and found it to be a tasty enough brew.

Beer Review: Platform Dr. Rudi The Project Series

Let’s talk a little Dr. Rudi from Platform Beer out of Cleveland, and what my thoughts are on this one. Dr. Rudi is part of the Project Series from Platform and comes in at 5.1% ABV and 40 IBU. It is an American Pale Ale and for me provided a nice decent overall experience. I found it to be quite palatable with a solid appearance and notes from the aroma. Flavor also provided a nice mouthfeel, although it was a little less fruity in the hops than I expected making it more like a standard pale ale in my opinion. This is my third one from them and probably thus far the one I have liked most, score an 82 for me on this one.

Beer Review Platform New Cleveland Palesner

Here is my look at the New Cleveland Palesner from Platform Beer Company, a beer they classify as a pilsner-pale ale hybrid that has an ABV of 5% and an IBU level of 23. The beer itself had some qualities of that of a refreshing beer, but it didn’t really do much to stand out for me. The appearance and aroma were okay but definitely played more to that of the pilsner side of things, and hops never really emerged to where I would describe it as much of a hybrid. Flavor was decent and it did sit well on my palate with a nice body, carbonation and decent texture. An okay finish also coupled this beer which led for me scoring it a 73 making it solid enough of a beer.
