Press Release: Cincinnati Named One of Country’s Biggest Beer Cities by Popular App
CINCINNATI
(April 9, 2018) – The most popular beer rating and sharing app, Untappd, recently
named Cincinnati one of ‘most checked-in cities’ in the country among Verified
Venues and will be holding a celebration party at MadTree Brewing Company on
Thursday, April 12. MadTree Brewing earned the right to host the celebration
for having the most check-ins by unique users of any verified venue in the
area. The Untappd app allows users to rate beers and share with their friends what
they’re drinking, where they’re at, and what they think about the beer.
The
celebration party will be held from 6PM-9PM on Thursday, April 12 at the
MadTree Taproom at 3301 Madison Road in Oakley. Untappd co-founder, Greg Avola,
will be on-hand to meet Untappd fans and give out Untappd t-shirts, stickers,
and other swag items. MadTree will be tapping six specialty barrel aged beers
and giving away free glasses to the first 100 people, in addition to pouring the
wide variety of 32 beers normally on tap.
The
competition challenged app users across the country to check-in the beers they
were drinking at Untappd verified venues during the month of March. Cincinnati
currently has 68 locations, including MadTree, that are members of the Untappd
for Business, which allows bars and restaurants to manage their tap-list and
connect with their customers in new ways, and beat out other cities like Denver
and San Diego, in the month of March in terms of check-ins. “We always knew
Cincinnati was a beer drinking town and they made it loud and clear with all the
check-ins at so many fantastic verified venues,” said Untappd co-founder, Greg
Avola.
“We
have been avid users and supporters of the Untappd app since the brewery began
five years ago, so it was really exciting to see Cincinnati represent so well
in this competition,” said Mike Stuart, MadTree director of people and social
strategy. “We’re blown away that so many Untappd users chose to come MadTree to
share what they were drinking.”
Cincinnati
won the honors in addition to Anaheim, Chicago, Charlotte, New York City,
Portland (OR), and Tampa. A complete list of celebrations can be found

About MadTree Brewing
Company
Cincinnati’s
MadTree Brewing made history when they opened in 2013 by becoming the first
modern craft brewery to can its beer in Ohio. When it comes to brewing, they
have carved their own path. They mix. They mash. They methodically bring
quality beer to life, and have fun doing it. Demand from the growing community
keeps MadTree motivated and moving. In return, they make nothing but the best
beer and opened their new production brewery and taproom in February 2017. They
are founded and continue to grow on the notion that beer builds community
builds and community builds beer. For more information about the beers, brewery,
and taproom, visit madtreebrewing.com or connect with them on Facebook,

Lagunitas Sakitumi Beer Review (One Hitter Series)
Sakitumi from Lagunitas Brewing Company is a 9% ABV 42 IBU Imperial IPA that is brewed with Sake yeast and rice as part of the process. A little bit sweet and a good amount tasty, this beer is one that is almost designed to be chugged as it goes down so easy. Maybe that’s why they put it in a 32 ounce bottle, although I’m sure some have done so. This is my look at this beer that unfortunately was released as part of the One Hitter Series, so when it’s gone it’s gone. I will say though that it was well worth the pick up here as you will see and hear in the video. This one was an easy 4 out of 5 for me.
Have you had the Sakitumi from Lagunitas? If so then drop a comment below and let others and myself know what you thought about this one.
